Here at Lindy's everything begins with history.        
                    
  Lindy’s Diner is a Paramount diner, manufactured in New
  Jersey, and transported to Keene, by the Chakalis family in
  1961.  Many of our customers can tell you that they
  personally watched the diner transported into town on a

  flatbed truck, and lifted onto the foundation. Many of our older customers also claim that they helped with the construction of the kitchen addition.

  So why come here? Well, in 1973 the diner was sold to George and Arietta Rigopolous, who are relatives of the
  Chakalis family, and with whom a tradition began.  During their ownership, they encouraged political candidates to
  visit and campaign in the diner.  Here in New Hampshire, one thing you must know about the people here is we 
  expect to meet our candidates face to face.  It is rumored that if you do not visit Lindy’s Diner as a presidential
  candidate, you will not win New Hampshire primary.

In 2008, Hillary Clinton did not visit the diner, I think the rumor holds true!  Many presidents
have been to the diner including George Bush, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.   Even various
politicians have stopped into Lindy’s including Michael Dukakis from Massachusetts, Dick Cheney, Malcom
Forbes, Paul Tsongas, Jean Sheehan, Paul Hoades, Tom Eaton, Molly Kelly, Charlie Bass, and many more.  George
and Arietta owned the diner for 30 years.  You can check out pictures under our Famous Photos page.

As 2003 came in to place, Nancy Petrillo and Charlie Criss bought the diner from George and Arietta.  In addition
to holding the tradition true, they have even made additions to the diner, such as a patio for outdoor dining and
gardens which the patrons enjoy, as do the local birds and butterfly population.  Some of the original fixtures
are still present within the diner. History is kept inside these walls here at Lindy’s Diner. The only minor change
is ownership. 

We are always contributing to local non-profit organization either through gift certificates - donations or personnal time. Nancy Petrillo is on the Keene Greater Downtown board of direction and organization established to keep
downtown vibrant & viable.  We have a community board in the foyer of the diner for activities, entertainment & education happenings in the downtown area.  Keene State College's film society usually films once or twice a semster
at the diner and this means one or both of us usually stay at the diner after hours often times til the wee hours of the morning.  We offer free space for non-profit organization to be outside the diner to sell ticket or raffle tickets for their organization.  During downtown events there is usually someone in the gardens or on the patio - art walk - music fest - ice fest - punkinfest.

You can meet, eat, and greet all at the same time here at Lindy’s Diner. For political candidates in particular,
Lindy’s is renowned for its New England clam chowder, homemade macaroni and cheese, and of course, the
Salisbury steaks.  You can always have breakfast at Lindy’s, you can have it for dinner, or you can have dinner
for breakfast, whichever you prefer! It’s a must, you personally have to come on down and enjoy the
experience and taste the difference yourself!
